Hispanic Heritage Month: Latinos in Science and Engineering (MAES)

“We are la familia.” That is what Jennifer Escobedo, President of Latinos in Science and Engineering, or MAES, says about her group. She talks with great pride as she discusses how MAES provides a place for Hispanic students in STEM fields here on Purdue’s campus. In classes, where there are few hispanic students, Jennifer says "MAES helps for us to come together.” MAES’s mission is to promote, cultivate, honor excellence and education of Latino engineers and scientists, as well as increase the number of Latino engineering students here at Purdue by providing awareness to local high schools.
