Elizabeth Klimes, senior manager, developed and lead Eli Lilly's
deployment of Six Sigma. She had been president of specialty care products
since December 2002.
Mrs. Klimes is a living example of the extraordinary impact of a
Purdue engineer! She is a native of Indiana and received her bachelor of
science degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1981.
She also received a master of business administration degree from Indiana
University. Her path from a design engineer to Vice President is an amazing
example of what is possible to those who are diligent in their pursuit.
Klimes joined lilly in 1982 as a design engineer in process
automation and subsequently worked in manufacturing facility and capacity
planning
In 1989 she became manager of manufacturing strategy development
In 1991 she became manager of biochemical manufacturing
In 1993 she was named plant manager for Indianapolis dry product
manufacturing
In 1995, Klimes accepted a position as director of manufacturing
for the endocrine business unit
In 1997 she became executive director and chief procurement
officer.
In 1998 she became general manager of Lilly Deutschland GmbH,
She returned to the United States as president, diabetes and
growth disorders in 2001
...what a living testimony of excellence.
Mrs. Klimes is a member of the Rose Hulman Institute of
Technology and the Advisory Board for the School of Electrical and Computer
Engineering at Purdue University. Ms. Klimes was a member of Eli Lilly's
operations committee and the senior management council.
