The Asian American and Asian Resource and
Cultural Center (AAARCC) opened its doors on April 29, 2015!
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue will celebrate the opening of its
new Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center with a ceremony on
April 29 at Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse.
The 4:30 p.m. event is free and open to the public, said Victoria Loong, the center's interim director. A reception will follow in the west foyer of Stewart Center. Attendees also will have the opportunity to visit the center, Room 162 in Stewart, until 7:30 p.m.
The celebration will include remarks by Purdue Provost Debasish "Deba" Dutta and G. Christine Taylor, vice provost for diversity and inclusion.Tsukasa Taiko, a Japanese drumming performance group from Chicago, also will be part of the celebration. Drummers and dancers will give a featured performance to close out the program.
Taylor said AAARCC will support Purdue Asian American and Asian
students and provide education and awareness opportunities for the entire
campus community.
"The opening of this center aligns with the growing Asian
and Asian American population to respond to the support and educational needs
of the campus," Taylor said.
